Notes on a Sofa

We asked four Danish photographers to interpret our Rico sofa through the medium of their camera lens.

In many ways, the sofa is the hero of the living room. An integral part of the home and the space where the family gathers to relax, rest and recharge, the sofa offers a place to unwind and focus on the important things in life.

We asked four photographers to interpret our Rico sofa through the medium of their camera lens. No restraints, no fixed brief – just free creative license. We sent the same Rico 2-seater to each of the photographer’s address of choice in Copenhagen. This is how their different stories unfolded.

"I wanted to create a photo series of atmospheric still lifes using everyday objects. The pictures contain feelings of intimacy, nostalgia and sensitivity and are based on personal memories."

"My connection to a natural environment dates back to childhood, since I’m born and raised in the middle of a forest. The link between nature and relaxation is intertwined and connected, and through the years, one has become a clear symbol of the other. These images are notes from a windy October day, where a sofa becomes a place for dialogue and the natural surroundings a guide for deeper reflection."

"Upside down, inside out. A space for intuition. Twisting, turning, moving between shapes and thoughts. Sometimes, it’s a waiting game. Waiting for something new. Feel the sun. Breathe in, breathe out. Without knowing what your next move is."
