The holiday season is a time for gathering, where shared meals and quality moments with loved ones create lasting memories. It’s also the ideal occasion to introduce creativity into your table setting, crafting an environment that feels warm and welcoming.
We visited three unique tablescapes and invited their creators to share their personal approach to holiday table settings. Each story reveals how they infuse cultural influences and meaningful personal touches into their decor, adding layers of depth and significance to their festive gatherings.

We joined Beverly Nguyen, fashion stylist and the creator of Beverly’s, a homeware pop-up that has quickly garnered a cult following. As we gather around the table at her home in New York City, we discuss her favourite rituals and creative elements for curating an unforgettable holiday gathering.
What is the most important element in creating a welcoming atmosphere at the table?
Creating a welcoming atmosphere begins with seasonal florals that inspire the setting. In winter, dahlias are a favourite; their playful shapes and rich colours bring warmth and depth to the table, whether displayed at varying heights or as a single striking bloom. My goal is always to create a space that fosters conversation and makes guests feel comfortable enough to linger.
What’s one festive tradition around the table that you’ve created, and why does it matter to you?
With a collection of beautiful glassware from hosting over the years, I love inviting guests to choose their own glass for the evening’s first cocktail. This small ritual offers a “pulse check” on their mood and sets a personalised tone, inviting them to embrace the evening in their own way.
What’s your process for selecting tableware—do you start with a particular item like a plate or a centrepiece?
My table settings are often inspired by the season's ingredients or recent travels, which become the focal point of the dinner. Tableware is selected to enhance these elements, considering the warmth or coolness of each dish. This thoughtful pairing of food and presentation shapes an experience that’s as visually inviting as it is delicious.
How does your personal style influence the way you set the table for a festive gathering?
My personal style leans toward modern minimalism with neutral palettes but allows for maximalism when the occasion calls for it. I aim for a seamless flow between the table setting and the rest of my home, crafting an environment where guests feel both inspired and at ease.
How do you personalise your table setting to reflect the unique energy of each festive season?
Floral accents bring texture, colour, and sensory delight to the table. I enjoy placing a single flower stem on each plate as a thoughtful gesture. This small touch can serve as a parting gift or a natural conversation starter, adding a layer of connection and personality.
What ferm LIVING products are your essentials when designing a tablescape, and how do you incorporate them into your setting?
The Plait Bowls from ferm LIVING are a staple in my tablescapes. Their bold colour and textured pattern add life and interest to the table. Using the ceramic pieces to hold fruits like deep purple grapes creates a beautiful contrast, adding depth and visual appeal to the setting.
